We are very proud of our scholars! They continue to impress us daily with their intelligence and success. On this page you will find highlights of the many accomplishments achieved by current UCF RAMP scholars and alumni.
Brian Becker was recognized by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation for his motivation, imagination and exceptional performance in computer engineering. The foundation named Becker one of only 18 Astronaut Scholars for 2006-07 and awarded him a $10,000 scholarship.
Christina Restrepo has been accepted into the Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) at The Ohio State University.
Alicia Henriquez has been accepted into the Summer Research Training Program at the University of California at San Francisco.
Natalia M. da Silva received an Honorable Mention in the Arts and Humanities category for her project Brazilian Ex-Votos.
Anamary Leal received an Honorable Mention in the Engineering and Computer Science category for her project Exploring the Effectiveness Of 3-D File Browsing Techniques for File Searching Tasks.
Indiana de la Cruz (Alumni ’07) was awarded 2nd Place in the Art & Humanities category at the Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence for her project, "Making a Place for Latino/a Writers." Her mentoris Cecilia Rodríguez Milanés (English).
Angelica M. Barrero-Tobon received an honorable mention in the Life & Health Sciences Category at the Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence for her project, "Characterizing the Unusual Protein Trafficking Pathways of Plasmodium falciparum." Her mentors are Dr. Debopam Chakrabarti and Lawrence Ayong (Molecular Biology and Microbiology). She has also been accepted into the Summer Training Academy for Research in the Science (STARS) program at University of California at San Diego (La Jolla, CA).
Claudia Nunez was awarded 1st place in the the Social Sciences II Category at the Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence for her project, "Project: Communication Disorders Professionals’ Perceptions about Death and Dying." Her mentor is Dr. Kenyatta O. Rivers (Communication Sciences and Disorders).
Roberta J. Murphy was awarded 2nd place in the Social Sciences II Category at the Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence for her Project, "Headstone Iconography: Documentation and Interpretation of Fraternal Emblems at Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando." Her mentor is Dr. John J. Schultz (Anthropology).
Enrique G. Ortiz has been awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship and a McKnight Graduate Fellowship. He was also awarded 2nd place in the Engineering, Computer Science, & Optics category at the Showcase of Undergraduate Research Excellence for his project, "Experimetal Comparison of Strategies for Detecting Outliers in Categorical Data." His mentor is Dr. Georgiopoulos (Electrical and Computer Engineering ).
